Tummy Tuck – Abdominoplasty

Tummy tuck surgery is known as “abdominoplasty” with its medical name. Abdominoplasty is a surgical procedure that is usually performed to remove excess fat and skin tissue in the abdomen, tighten the remaining skin tissue and correct the abdominal muscles. This procedure is usually done to correct sagging caused by excessive fat accumulation in the abdomen, or to correct looseness and sagging in the abdomen caused by factors such as pregnancy, aging or weight loss.

How is Tummy Tuck Surgery Performed?

The surgery is performed under general anesthesia and the surgical procedure takes approximately 2-5 hours. The procedure is performed through special incisions determined by our doctor before the surgery. The incisions are usually located in the area above the pubic bone and are striated. Afterwards, our doctor tightens the abdominal muscles by sewing them together to straighten them. Excess fat and skin tissue are removed and the remaining skin tissue is tightened. Finally, the incisions are sutured closed and bandaged appropriately for the patient.

Healing Process

After tummy tuck surgery, the patient may stay in the hospital for a few days, and the recovery period can usually range from a few weeks to a few months.

What You Should Avoid

  • You should avoid heavy exercise or excessive physical activity for the first few days.
  • You should choose the lying position recommended by our doctor.
  • For the first few days, you should avoid toxic substances such as alcohol and cigarettes. These substances can adversely affect the healing process.
  • After the procedure, you should avoid exposure to water such as pool, sea and jacuzzi for a certain period of time. Water can increase the risk of infection of the treated area.
