Teeth Whitening Treatment

Teeth whitening is a cosmetic dentistry procedure applied to restore the natural whiteness of the teeth or to give them a whiter appearance. This process is used to remove stains, discolorations and yellowing on the surface of the teeth.

Before teeth whitening, it may be necessary to check the teeth, remove tartar and other residues by our doctor. During the procedure, stains on the surface of the teeth are removed with a special gel or using a laser and a whiter appearance is obtained. Teeth whitening is a safe procedure that can be performed without damaging the tooth structure.

Healing Process

Sensitivity may occur in the teeth after teeth whitening, but it is usually temporary. The dentist recommends a special toothpaste or mouthwash to minimize post-procedure sensitivity.

What To Do

  • Additional treatments recommended by our doctor (for example, whitening strips that can be used at home) should be used regularly.
  • After the whitening process, the toothpaste or mouthwash recommended by our doctor should be used.

What You Should Avoid

  • Smoking and alcohol should not be consumed during the first 24 hours.
  • Colored foods and beverages should be avoided for the first 24 hours. These include beverages such as coffee, tea, red wine, juice, and cola, and foods with tomato sauce, orange, red, and purple.
  • Consumption of acidic foods should be limited. Foods such as lemon juice, citrus fruits, vinegar and mayonnaise contain acids and can damage tooth enamel.
  • Teeth should not be brushed for at least 24 hours after the whitening process.
  • Afterwards, dental hygiene practices such as regular tooth brushing, flossing and mouthwash should be continued.
