Porcelain Crown Application

Porcelain crown is the process of removing the decayed, broken or damaged part of the tooth and replacing it with a special porcelain veneer. This veneer helps restore the original shape, size and function of the tooth. Porcelain crowns are usually made in a special laboratory in accordance with the natural color of the tooth and are permanently attached to the tooth. This process is used to improve both the aesthetics and function of the tooth and often provides a long-lasting solution.

Healing Process

After porcelain crown application, it is normal to feel some tenderness and swelling in your gums. These feelings should subside within a few days. Since local anesthesia is applied during the placement of the crown, numbness may persist for several hours. After the crown is placed, it may take several days for the sensation on the tooth to return to normal.

What To Do

  • Don’t stop brushing and flossing your crown, but do it very gently.
  • It is important to continue regular dental care to keep your crown healthy and long-lasting.

What You Should Avoid

  • For the first few days, avoid hard and sticky foods.
  • You can continue to floss, but avoid applying too much pressure to insert the floss.
  • The curing time required for the crown to adhere may take approximately 24-48 hours. During this time, you should be careful of what you eat and avoid putting too much pressure on the crown
