Liposuction Surgery

Liposuction is a surgical procedure that removes excess fat from the body and provides a more shaped and aesthetic appearance to the desired area. This procedure can be done under local or general anesthesia. Liposuction is an effective method for body shaping.

How is Liposuction Performed?

Liposuction is performed with the help of a special vacuum cannula. The cannula is placed under the skin and absorbs excess adipose tissue. The procedure is generally used to get rid of fat in the abdomen, waist, hips, thighs, knees, arms, neck and chin areas. Since only the adipose tissue is removed in the liposuction procedure, there is no obvious scar on the skin.

Healing Process

After the liposuction procedure, a slight pain, swelling and bruising may be seen, which may last for a few days. You can return to work life in a few days and routine activities can be resumed in about 3 weeks.

What To Do

  • For the first few days, you can use an ice pack to reduce swelling by applying cold to the treated areas.
  • After the procedure, you should be protected from sunlight for a certain period of time.

What You Should Avoid

  • You should avoid heavy exercise or excessive physical activity for the first few days.
  • For the first few days, you should avoid toxic substances such as alcohol and cigarettes. These substances can adversely affect the healing process.
  • After the procedure, you should avoid exposure to water such as pool, sea and jacuzzi for a certain period of time. Water can increase the risk of infection of the treated area and delay the healing process.
