Breast Implant Revision Surgery
Breast implant revision is a surgical procedure that is performed in people who have had previous breast implant surgery for reasons such as displacement of the implants, changes or damage. This procedure may involve reshaping or completely replacing existing implants. Breast implant revision can be done for a variety of reasons. These may include problems such as sagging, protrusion or asymmetry of the implants, the formation of a tissue called a capsule under the implant, infection around the implant or the explosion of the implant. In addition, implants may need to be reshaped for reasons such as natural tissue loss or weight changes over time.
How is Breast Implant Revision Performed?
During the surgery, our doctor can remove the existing implants or leave them in place and reshape them. After the implants are removed, new implants can be placed or existing implants replaced with new ones.
Healing Process
After breast implant revision surgery, patients usually stay in the hospital for a few days and the recovery process takes several weeks. After the surgery, the patient may need to wear a support bra for a while.
What To Do
- You may need to use a bra or bandage for a certain period of time after the operation.
- During the first few days after the operation, you should lie on your back while lying down. This will help reduce swelling.
What You Should Avoid
- You should avoid heavy exercise or excessive physical activity for the first few days.
- For the first few days, you should avoid toxic substances such as alcohol and cigarettes. These substances can adversely affect the healing process.
- Avoid taking hot showers or baths in the first few weeks after the operation. This can increase the risk of infection at the surgical site.
- After the procedure, you should avoid exposure to water such as pool, sea and jacuzzi for a certain period of time. Water can increase the risk of infection of the treated area and delay the healing process.
